Eglinton Local Structure Plan is located within the Alkimos Eglinton District Structure Plan area, occupying 633ha of prime coastal land within the City of Wanneroo.
Employing a mixture of land uses, including Residential, Business, and Mixed Use, the greenfield development aims to create a well balanced community of up to 16,000 residents who will have direct access to a major recreational marina and coastal recreational node, Eglinton Town Centre and train station, and the Special Transit System (STS) - a rapid bus network which transects the Structure Plan area.
The Structure Plan places real emphasis on achieving housing diversity whilst balancing environmental values. Residential density codings of R-25 to R-160 are proposed throughout the Structure Plan area, with higher densities proposed around the future town centre, marina and STS route. Over 13% of the site has been given up for public parkland, with dunal landscape retention forming an important part of the design brief.
The project represents a collaborative process by the Oceanscapes Alliance which is sure to create a benchmark coastal development in Perth. Stage One (subdivision) was recently approved by the Western Australian Planning Commission.
